Houston Rockets Terrence Jones Charged With Stomping Homeless Man

Houston Rockets forward Terrence Jones has been charged with harassment in his hometown of Portland after he shouted at a homeless man then allegedly stomped on him.

Jones was charged after police Sgt. Pete Simpson observed a group of people walking away from a bar and one of them, later identified as Jones, walked by a doorway where two homeless men were sleeping and began shouting ‘wake up.” Jones then allegedly raised his leg and stomped one of the men.

Police later identified the victim as 46-year-old Daniel John Kellerher, adding that he suffered a minor leg injury that did not require immediate medical attention.

Jones led nearby Jefferson High School to an unprecedented three straight Class 5A championships and played in the 2010 McDonald’s All-American Game. He originally committed to staying close to home and playing for the University of Washington, but changed his mind three weeks later and went to Kentucky.

He helped the Wildcats to the Final Four in his freshman year, then, playing alongside Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Doron Lamb, to the national title in 2012.

He was drafted 18th overall by the Houston Rockets, but spent most of last season in the development league. In his 19 regular-season games with the Rockets, the 6-foot9, 252-pound forward averaged 5.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in 14.5 minutes.
