Caroline Wozniacki Update: Dane Denies Dissing Ex Rory McIlroy With Jason Day Tweet [VIDEO]

If nothing else, Caroline Wozniacki is a stubborn tweeter.

Days after being criticized for tweeting her support for Jason Day before the final round of the US Open on the assumption that it a dig at former fiancé Rory McIlroy, the Danish tennis star protested her innocence.

Caroline Wozniacki trolls Rory McIlroy in tweet supporting US Open rival Jason Day?

The Daily Mail reported that Wozniacki "vehemently denied" the suggestion that her intentions with her support for Day were less than honorable.

"I comment on sports all the time. Nothing I do has anything to do with my ex," Wozniacki told the Daily Mail. "What Jason Day has been through this week with collapsing on the course and everything and still keeping going and having the doctor out there for the full round [Sunday], I think anyone who follows sports in general knows that's a great effort to keep going, not give up and still do so well.

Caroline Wozniacki's congratulatory tweet to Masters champion Jordan Spieth swings sympathy toward Rory McIlroy?

"I thought that it was impressive the way he kept fighting. I know how it is when I had cramps just on court and how I felt when I kept going.

"I can kind of put myself in his shoes, but he had to walk around there for like five hours. It's different."

Of course, Wozniacki would need to send out three or four tweets to fully convey her support for Day. But she might've considered it, especially because her tweet to congratulate Jordan Spieth on his win in the Masters also was viewed as a shot to McIlroy, who was trying to complete the career grand slam by winning the one major that has eluded him.

To the numerous people that tweeted their belief that she was trolling McIlroy, she responded, "Tweeps I was congratulating Speith on his win, nothing else.. It's time for some of you to move on from the past. Thank you!"

Wozniacki did not congratulate Spieth following his US Open victory. And she does have the right to tweet about rooting for golfers not named McIlroy, just as people have the right to question her motives.

Wozniacki might ask herself whether providing commentary on golf events is worth her trouble.
