McDavid, 18, is a highly touted prospect and has drawn comparisons to Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and NHL Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky, which is high praise. It is expected that McDavid will be a generational player.

McDavid's good friend Jack Eichel, the 2014-15 Hobey Baker Award winner out of Boston University, is expected to be selected with the No. 2 overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres.

The Sabres have had a busy day already, adding goaltender Robin Lehner in a trade with the Ottawa Senators and now they look to select the 18-year-old center to continue the revamp of the franchise.
