Kenny Britt, Tennessee Titans Receiver, To Lose $675,000 In Salary Due To Legal Troubles, NFL Suspension

Tennessee Titans receiver Kenny Britt’s repeated run-ins with the law are set to cost him at least $675,000 in base salary this season, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The four-year veteran was set to earn nearly $2 million in salary this season, but legal troubles, including an arrest for DUI in 2012 that led to a one-game suspension, have voided escalators in his contract that would trigger slotted payment increases.

According to Yahoo!, the overall terms of Britt’s five-year rookie contract stipulate that he could make anywhere from $9.15 to $12.25 million, with the increases being based on variables ranging from his on-the-field production to his off-the-field conduct.

A source with knowledge of Britt’s contract details tells Yahoo last year’s suspension voided 2013 escalators that the 24-year-old vet had earned in three of his first four seasons.

In April of 2011, Britt was also arrested on charges of eluding an officer, hindering apprehension and obstructing governmental function stemming from a police car chase. Less than two months later and in a separate incident, he pled guilty to careless driving and was fined.

In June of last year, he was also arrested on charges of resisting arrest. According to news reports, overall he’s now been arrested ten times since joining the NFL.

Most of Britt’s legal troubles have come in or around his home state of New Jersey and this summer, insisting that he’s now committed to being drama free, he took the added responsibility of spending more time away from childhood dwellings.
