Amir Khan Next Fight: 'King' Comments On Possible Kell Brook Matchup [VIDEO]

Amir "King" Khan is likely out of luck once again when it comes to securing a fight vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr., who looks like he will be facing Andre Berto on September 12 in Las Vegas, possibly on CBS. It would be Mayweather's first non-pay-per-view fight in a decade.

That leaves Khan in a tough place, as he had placed his eggs in the Mayweather basket. One glaring option would be to fight Kell Brook, an undefeated British welterweight who holds the IBF belt. According to Khan, that fight is not going to happen though.

"All he has to do is face some top names, like [Tim] Bradley, [Marcos] Maidana, and [Keith] Thurman," Khan said. "I proved myself by going in and fighting guys at their peak, but with him he's not doing that. Instead he's fought Jo Jo Dan and Frank Gavin in his last two fights. Why not prove himself?"

Brook does have a victory over Shawn Porter on his resume, and while Khan has fought more big names in his career, he lost to Lamont Peterson and was knocked out by Danny "Swift" Garcia as a 140-pounder. Khan also brought up his huge fan base as a reason that he doesn't have to face Brook yet. According to Khan, if they wait the fight could become a bigger event.

"He would not be able to sell out Wembley. The only fight that could sell out Wembley would be me against Mayweather or Pacquiao. Kell Brook is not big enough yet to sell out Wembley.

"I've topped bills at the MGM Grand Arena. Kell Brook could walk down the Strip and no one would recognize him. If he builds himself up like I did, then there would be two super mega names. It would be like Mayweather-Pacquiao and the numbers would be big around the world."
