Wilson signed a four-year, $87.6 million deal with the Seahawks, making him the second highest paid quarterback the NFL, behind only the Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers and just ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger.

Wilson had imposed a Friday deadline on getting a deal done; otherwise he would've suspended talks and likely would have played for the $1.54 million that he originally was scheduled to make in 2015.
The new deal includes $60 million in guaranteed money and a $31 million bonus. He is scheduled to make $21.9 million annually, more than Roethlisberger's $21.85 million per season.
Ciara, noted pop singer and Wilson's girlfriend, tweeted out her congratulations to the Seahawks star.

Part of the Seahawks' apprehension in giving Wilson so much money was that they feared not having enough cash to keep the rest of their core - which has led the franchise to two consecutive Super Bowl appearances - intact. Apparently some of the Seahawks players are thinking the same thing.

Later, however, Wagner separated his contract plight from that of Russell when he congratulated the quarterback.

Even New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who is renegotiating his contract and is hoping for a new deal before the 2015 season starts, said he was less than enthused about what another quarterback is making.
"No. No, I'm not into the comparison about how much money you're making,'' Manning told the New York Post. "That's not my concern.''
Manning is scheduled to make $17 million in 2015, but passed off any questions related to his negotiations away from himself.
"You'd have to ask the Giants or ask my agent,'' Manning said. "That's not my concern. I don't get too involved with that stuff.''
At least Wilson should be happy.
