The Miami Dade police department has launched an official police investigation to the police escort service LeBron James allegedly received to arrive at a recent Jay Z concert on time, according to TMZ.
The two-time defending NBA champ posted an Instagram video of himself being escorted to the Sun Life Stadium concert where Justin Timberlake also performed over the weekend.
Under the heading “they treat us so well,” and “needed it cause traffic was nuts,” James can be seen trailing officers riding behind officers with strobe lights on as they drove down the wrong side of the street.
TMZ adds it has thus far spoken with four police agencies -- Miami City PD, Miami Gardens PD, Florida Highway Patrol, and Miami-Dade PD -- and all have denied it was one of their cruisers leading the LBJ brigade.
In providing James with the door-to-service, the website adds that officers may have broken department protocol, which typically requires such classified dignitaries to submit a written request prior to any such service.
James recently took to Facebook to rant about the struggles and sacrifices he’s forced to endure based on his celebrity.
“Man it’s hard to go out and have a good time these days,” James wrote. “It’s cool though, it’s part of my life. Wouldn’t change anything just saying. Been in the spotlight since I was 15. Sometimes u just wanna STOP!! But I refuse cause I have a commitment to the youth to inspire them. That will keep me pushing forward and focused alone.”
