With an unnecessary list of mid-week fixtures behind them, Liga MX turns the page to Week 5 Friday night.

Chivas Guadalajara and America recaptured their dominant form in Week 4 and moved to the top half of the league power rankings. An inexplicable loss to Chiapas forced the doubts surrounding Cruz Azul to reemerge.

Below are the updated power rankings for the 2015 Liga MX Apertura.

1. Puebla (3-0-0)

Don't expect this ranking to last. Puebla got off to a similar start in last season's Clausura before returning to the reality of a relegation battle.

2. Leon (3-0-1)

Leon looked every bit the title contender in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over Tigres UANL. Carlos Peña has finally returned to form.

3. America (2-0-2)

Ignacio Ambriz asked for patience and delivered with consecutive signature wins. America have outscored their opponents 7-0 in the last two matches.

4. Morelia (3-0-1)

Reality hit at the Estadio Omnilife on Wednesday, but an unexpected nine-point start keeps Morelia in the top-4.

5. Monterrey (2-0-1)

When it's clicking, Monterrey are capable of outscoring anyone in Mexico. That was made apparent in the club's comeback victory over Pachuca on Tuesday.

6. Veracruz (3-0-1)

Veracruz are still below the first tier of Mexican clubs, but consistent enough to remain a contender after facing relegation last season.

7. Chiapas (2-1-1)

The same cannot be said about Chiapas. The Jaguars have traded results in their opening four matches.

8. Chivas Guadalajara (1-1-2)

Add the final 20 minutes of Sunday's 2-2 draw with Tigres to Wednesday's victory over Morelia ... few Liga MX clubs have looked better than that.

9. Pumas UNAM (2-0-2)

A 5-0 win over Atlas isn't enough to forgive previous losses to Toluca and Puebla.

10. Toluca (2-0-2)

Two wins. Two losses. Zero goal differential. It doesn't get more average than that for Jose Cardozo's Toluca.

11. Cruz Azul (2-0-2)

Just when you think Sergio Bueno has turned a corner—earning one-goal victories over Leon and Chivas Guadalajara—Cruz Azul stumble at Chiapas.

12. Pachuca (2-0-2)

Going forward isn't the problem for Pachuca—only Pumas (11) and America (10) have scored more than Los Tuzos (seven)—it's a lack of defending that has cost the club points. Nine goals have already been conceded in four matches.

13. Dorados (1-2-1)

No one expected Dorados to accumulate four points out the gate. Tuesday's 4-0 loss to America was nothing more than the universe correcting itself.

14. Santos Laguna (1-0-3)

It took four weeks, but the defending champions finally found the win column, defeating Queretaro on Tuesday.

15. Queretaro (1-1-2)

All of a sudden, Week 1's victory over Atlas doesn't look so promising. Queretaro are winless in their last three matches.

16. Tijuana (1-0-3)

Losing to Veracruz is acceptable. Losing to Veracruz by two goals on your own artificial turf, however, is not.

17. Atlas (1-0-3)

If Pachuca have defensive woes, Atlas have a defensive crisis. No club can compete in the Liguilla with a minus-eight goal differential.

18. Tigres UANL (0-1-3)

There's only so many times the Copa Libertadores excuse can be used. Tigres have the talent to compete and must begin doing so immediately.
