Jon Jones Next Fight: Chris Weidman Calls Out Bones, Hopes He 'Gets His Stuff Together' [VIDEO]

There's no telling when deposed light heavyweight champion Jon "Bones" Jones will return to the UFC and fight again, but if he does, there's a middleweight monster that will be waiting. UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman told The MMA Hour on Monday that he will not be happy unless he challenges Jones.

"I know for a fact, I'm not leaving this sport without fighting Jon," Weidman said. "Unless he's not coming back at all. But if he's there, and I'm here, people are going to want to see it happen. And I want to see it happen."

Cops Realize They Are Searching Jon Jones' Car, Say "Well He's F**ked"

The "unless he's not coming back at all" portion of his quote is important. Jones may not return to mixed martial arts. Jones failed a drug test in December 2014, less than a month before a title defense vs. Daniel Cormier for the light heavyweight title. Jones' positive test, for cocaine, wasn't revealed until after his unanimous decision win. He went to rehab for just one day, and claimed he made a bad mistake but denied a drug problem.

Then, Jones was arrested after he committed a hit-and-run in Albuquerque, New Mexico, that left a pregnant woman with a broken arm. Jones was seen fleeing the scene on foot, and witnesses said he returned to the car, grabbed cash and fled again. This incident happened two weeks before Jones was scheduled to defend the title against Anthony "Rumble" Johnson.

Jones vs. Cormier Could Be A New York Main Event

UFC president Dana White stripped Jones of the title, and suspended him indefinitely. Jones also had a DUI on his record from two years prior when he crashed his car into a pole. Cormier replaced Jones in the Johnson fight, and won the vacant championship.

"I'm looking forward to Jon turning his life around and becoming a better person," Jones' coach Mike Winklejohn said. "Is he fighting again or not? I'm not sure. That's not important. What is important right now is that Jon takes care of himself and his family."

Weidman said calling out Jones is nothing personal, but that he just wants to fight elite competition.

"It's just because I'm a competitor," Weidman said. "I want to fight the best possible people. I want to have the biggest challenges in front of me and conquer them. That's why I wanted to fight Anderson Silva when nobody else wanted to fight him. I want the biggest challenges."

Weidman defeated Silva twice, and Silva shattered his leg in their second bout.
