Metta World Peace Vows To “Fight For The City,” New York Knicks

Metta World Peace is vowing to fight for his hometown New York Knicks like no other.

Appearing on an episode of the Fox Sports Show, World Peace promised to bring the type of inside toughness and perimeter defense Knicks fans haven’t seen since the days of Patrick Ewing, Charles Oakley and John Starks.

“I’m going to fight for the city,” he said. “It’s easy when playing on a team to do exactly what the coach asks of you and do what it takes to win. Don’t fall into the category of egos or ‘I want to be the superstar or I should get more shots.’ We need a ring. That’s all that matters.’’

The always colorful and oft controversial World Peace also promised he will have no problems fitting in quietly with the big-city Knicks because at this point in his career he simply wants another ring.

Kobe Bryant openly lamented World Peace’s loss to the Lakers’ attack and if the 14-year veteran can prove successful in teaming with the likes of Iman Shumpert and Tyson Chandler in returning the Knicks defense to the levels of the Pat Riley era, Knicks fan will soon understand why.
