Real Madrid Transfer News: David De Gea Doesn’t Belong At Real Madrid, Keylor Navas A Better Option [VIDEO]

Manchester United and Real Madrid made a mockery of the transfer window on Monday, failing to complete the sale of David De Gea. For many, Madrid lost out on a talented, young goalkeeper.

But in reality, the only loser here is Manchester United.

Manchester United Made A Mistake Letting Go Of Chicharito Hernandez

First, the particulars; the embarrassing back and forth between United and Real. The Spanish giants pointed the finger first with a 10-point press release.

The Red Devils promptly responded.

Obviously, De Gea won’t delighted to remain a Manchester United player, but Real Madrid fans should be delighted that he is.

For all his talents, De Gea was not worth €35 million.

Especially when Madrid could acquire him on a free transfer in 2016. (His contract expires at the end of this season.) Not to mention, the club already has a GK.

Keylor Navas doesn’t carry the “accolades” De Gea does, but the Costa Rican international is more than capable of protecting the posts at the Santiago Bernabeu. He’s yet to concede a goal this season, and is doing so with remarkable save…

After save…

After save.

If the visuals aren’t enough, the numbers are. In Keylor’s last full season—2013-14 with Levante—the 28-year-old was named La Liga Goalkeeper of the Year and bested De Gea’s year with United.

Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don’t.

De Gea was nothing more than a luxury, one of Florentino Perez’s annoyingly predictable pet projects. It was an embarrassing way to go about it, but Real Madrid are in a better position than they were just three days ago.
