But in reality, the only loser here is Manchester United.

Obviously, De Gea won’t delighted to remain a Manchester United player, but Real Madrid fans should be delighted that he is.
For all his talents, De Gea was not worth €35 million.
Especially when Madrid could acquire him on a free transfer in 2016. (His contract expires at the end of this season.) Not to mention, the club already has a GK.
Keylor Navas doesn’t carry the “accolades” De Gea does, but the Costa Rican international is more than capable of protecting the posts at the Santiago Bernabeu. He’s yet to concede a goal this season, and is doing so with remarkable save…

De Gea was nothing more than a luxury, one of Florentino Perez’s annoyingly predictable pet projects. It was an embarrassing way to go about it, but Real Madrid are in a better position than they were just three days ago.
