Tom Brady Deflategate News: NFLPA Argues Jay Feely Football Doctoring Case Excluded Player Probe [VIDEO]

Jay Feely has no idea what Tom Brady is going through. And that's why Brady deserves to have his suspension dropped, the NFL Players Association is arguing.

The NFLPA, in its July court filing to Judge Richard Berman, revealed a 2009 incident involving the Jets in which the NFL suspended an equipment manager for doctoring the footballs that then-kicker Jay Feely was going to use, deeming that he was gaining a competitive advantage, CBS Sports is reporting.

Feely, however, never was investigated for the incident.

Feely, who is a member of the NFLPA executive committee, got a chance to meet with Berman privately to discuss how he felt his situation with the Jets was similar to that of Brady's Deflategate situation.

Feely appeared on The Doug Gottlieb Show on CBS Radio on Tuesday and explained what happened during his time in talking to the judge.

"One of the situations I talked about was when I was with the Jets because they had an equipment guy who got in trouble, ironically, playing the Patriots," Feely said. "It was referenced in the NFLPA brief that we sent into the judge."

Feely believes his situation resembles Brady's situation enough for Berman to rule in Brady's favor now because he didn't get in trouble then.

"We talked about the similarities in that case and the differences in the way the NFL responded. I didn't get into trouble, I had no culpability," Feely said. "The reaction by the NFL was much different [from Deflategate] even though the circumstances were very similar."

Brady is staring at a four-game suspension if Berman rules in favor of the NFL in Brady's appeal in court. Or the judge could nullify his suspension completely.

The judge said he will make a ruling before the end of the week.
