5) Sprint Cup at Darlington
After a 12-year absence, NASCAR returns to Darlington for the Southern 500 on what once was its traditional Labor Day Weekend event. The racing association is going all-in on the nostalgia, painting the cars in retro-looking schemes replicating stock cars. Here's all the info needed to enjoy this one:

4) Deutsche Bank Championship
The second of four FedEx Cup playoff events has a lot of interesting storylines, not the least of which is the return of Rory McIlroy from a brief absence. He'll look to fend off Jordan Spieth, who is looking to make up for a lackluster performance last week. Jason Day is also looking to surpass both of them. The purse is $8.25 million with a winning share of $1.485 million and as a special Labor Day bonus, the competition goes through Monday.

3) U.S. Open
The U.S. Open tennis tournament continues with Days 6, 7 and 8 over the three-day weekend with the schedules and matchups to be determined.

2) Cardinals vs. Pirates
A huge pennant race continues this weekend as the NL Central-leading Cardinals and second-place Pirates do battle in a three-game series starting Friday and going through Sunday. While the first two games aren't accessible online, ESPN will broadcast "Sunday Night Baseball" live from Busch Stadium. The Cardinals (86-47) hold a 6.5-game lead on the Pirates (79-53) heading into Friday's game while Pittsburgh owns the NL's top wild-card spot.

1) Alabama vs. Wisconsin
There is plenty of college football action this weekend, and one of the headliners will see Alabama and Wisconsin mix it up on Saturday. The No. 20 Badgers look to takeout the No. 3 Crimson Tide in one of this weekend's can't-miss games.
