Tim Tebow News: Will He Make it with the New England Patriots? Announcer Calls Him 'Peyton Manning' On Accident [VIDEO]

New England Patriots roster-hopeful Tim Tebow joined the team on June 11, but will he be there in Week 1 on Sept. 8 when the Patriots clash with the Bills in Buffalo in their first regular-season game?

If Tebow's up-and-down performance yesterday was supposed to clarify things, it didn't. Tebow looked great at times, throwing two touchdowns, but also looked uneasy, such as when he threw an interception.

Bill Belichick's decision on the quarterback remains a mystery, but one thing that can be said for Tebow is that at least he left a lasting impression in what could have been his final six seconds in a Patriots uniform. Tebow hurled his second touchdown pass, a nine-yard toss to rookie Quentin Sims, with just six seconds remaining in the game to secure a 28-20 victory for the Patriots over the New York Giants in the team's preseason finale.

It was the second score concocted by Tebow and Sims in the game.

After Tebow thew an interception, an announcer calling the game accidentally referred to him as Denver Broncos' quarterback Peyton Manning, as can be heard and seen in the video below:

If anyone believed that the thought of Tebow missing out on a roster spot was keeping him up at night, they believed wrong.

Tebow said of his plans following the game per USA Today Sports: "Go to sleep when I get home, wake up, come work out, watch the film. See what I did good, see what I did bad, try to learn from it and get better."

Ever a tight-lipped coach, Belichick gave no indication of the team's future plans regarding Tebow in his post-game press conference, and gave no hint as to whether or not the team will keep Tebow as a third-string quarterback after carrying just two signal callers in three of the past four seasons.

"Whatever we do will be whatever we think is in the best interest of this football team, the 2013 team, whatever that is at any position," Belichick told USA Today Sports.

Tebow was 6-for-11 for 91 yards while adding the two touchdowns and one interception in his final audition for the Patriots. He also rushed for 30 yards on six carries while being sacked four times.

Tebow is looking to be brought on as the third string behind Tom Brady, who sat-out Thursday as most starting quarterbacks do in the final preseason tune-up, and Ryan Mallett, who went 10-for-16 for 117 yards and a touchdown pass in the first half of the game.

Tebow, in a limited role with the New York Jets last season, 6-for-8 for 39 yards with no touchdowns and rushed for 102 yards on 36 carries without reaching the end zone.

Whether or not Tebow will be on the sidelines or even see playing time when the Patriots square off against his old Jets team in Week 2 on Sept. 12 remains to be seen.
