Jay Z Sells Jason Kidd Brooklyn Nets Shares, Focus On Expanding Roc Nation [VIDEO]

Roc Nation Sports agency founder Jay Z is set to sell his Brooklyn Nets share to Jason Kidd, the team's new coach, according to NextImpulseSports.com

As stipulated by league rules, the hip hop star was forced to put his sub-one percent ownership of the team on the market after founding Roc Nation Sports earlier this year, which to date has already signed such big name clients as Kevin Durant, Robinson Cano, Victor Cruz, Geno Smith and the WNBA's Skylar Diggins. Jay Z officially became a certified NBA and MLB agent in June.

According to the website, Kidd, who took over as coach of the Nets earlier this summer, bought the shares for around $500,000.

Having dealt for such grizzled veterans as Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce this off season, the Nets figure to be one of the league's most exciting and contending teams this year. The two former Boston Celtics mainstays join a starting lineup that also includes All-Star caliber performers Deron Williams, Brooks Lopez and Joe Johnson.

It will be the 40-year-old Kidd's job to orchestrate the show. After a 19-year career of doing just that as a perennial All-Star point guard, Kidd announced his retirement from the inter-borough rival Knicks and took over for the Nets earlier this summer.

He recently told reporters "he sees a lot of himself in Williams" and plans to get him back to the early days of his career when he averaged double digit assists for four straight seasons. Williams averaged just 7.7 last year, his lowest output since he his rookie season. He hasn't averaged double digits since the 2010-11 season.

"You don't want to take away from Deron's freedom and creativity of putting pressure on the defense," Kidd told reporters. "His strength is when he's in the open court. So we'll definitely talk about that on the daily, about him making things happen without having to set the ball up."
