Former ESPN analyst and Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Hugh Douglas has been arrested in Connecticut for allegedly attacking and choking a woman during what he alleges was "rough sex," according to Hartford TV station WFSB.
The station reported the woman told police she was attacked by Douglas while the two were at the Marriott Hotel. Police quickly charged Douglas with third degree assault and second degree strangulation. He was to be arraigned in Hartford Superior Court sometime on Tuesday.
According to WFSB, court papers also allege Douglas grabbed the woman by the neck and slammed her into the wall several times, though the former NFL star claims all the victim's injuries took place during a sex act.
Just last month, Douglas was fired by ESPN after a public spat with Numbers Never Lie co-host Michael Smith while both were attending the National Association of Black Journalists conference in Florida.
Several news outlets later reported a drunken Douglas engaged in a "screaming match and near physical confrontation" with Smith during which he called the veteran reporter a "house n----r" and an "Uncle Tom."
According to Sports Illustrated, Douglas became agitated after Smith refused to aid him in getting on a stage where the DJ was playing and threatened to beat him up. Witnesses said Smith tried to walk away, only to again be confronted by Douglas and causing the two to have to be separated by stunned onlookers.
