Dallas Cowboys Rumors: 'Nameless, Faceless' Victim Is the Only Reason Greg Hardy Will Play His Old Team [VIDEO]

Greg Hardy has already proven he's not a great guy, but he also appears to have no self-awareness

The defensive end and the Cowboys (3-7) will play the undefeated Panthers (10-0), a team that originally drafted Hardy, on Thanksgiving. Hardy referred to his former club as "nameless, faceless opponents," despite the fact that a nameless, faceless victim became the exact reason he still has a job in the NFL.

Greg Hardy Still Claiming Innocence After Being Found Guilty

When Hardy was asked by the media if he felt any different considering he was going head-to-head with a Carolina team that selected him in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft, he made it abundantly clear that it wasn't special for him.

"Just a nameless, faceless opponent," Hardy said, according to ESPN. "Next game. Got to stay focused."

Teammate, Oddsmakers View Tony Romo As Jesus

The deflection was a reference to the message Dallas coach Jason Garrett uses for his team's opposition. When Hardy was asked if he had any friends with the Panthers, he repeated himself.

"Nameless, faceless opponents," he said.

Hardy reached the 2013 Pro Bowl as a member of the Panthers and played 63 games with Carolina, but he missed 15 contests with the team last season due to a domestic violence arrest. Hardy assaulted his then-girlfriend, Nicole Holder, and threw her onto a futon full of guns.

The defensive end was found guilty and was set to serve 60 days in jail, but the charges were dropped when Holder stopped cooperating with police. Hardy paid Holder off and she chose money over justice, making him free to return to the NFL once his four-game suspension for the incident was up.

At the time, Holder was a nameless and faceless victim, much like Hardy claims his opponents are, and her decision is the only reason he's still suiting up on fall Sundays. Holder's name and face remained unknown until her story was unearthed by Deadspin, but by that point it was too late and Hardy was off the hook.

With a freshly expunged record, Hardy has 4.5 sacks in six games with the Cowboys since returning from his suspension.

If there was any hope of Hardy learning his lesson, it all went out the window when he vowed to enter this season "guns blazing" after his suspension.
