Canelo Alvarez Next Fight: 155 lbs. Or Bust For Gennady Golovkin [VIDEO]

The adrenaline rush seems to be simmering down for Canelo Alvarez and the people over at his camp as they are now nearing their normal manner of thinking.

After that marvelous performance last weekend which saw the Mexican win via unanimous decision over Miguel Cotto, Alvarez at the time said he is not afraid of Gennady Golovkin and that he will fight him once set.

Canelo Alvarez Has Mayweather's Attention Once Again

Seeing however that he was still overwhelmed by his triumph, such was not take seriously since there was that issue before the Alvarez vs. Cotto fight that he would only fight at 155 lbs as reported prior via Fighthype.com.

Such weight was never touched and now that stipulation has been once again put on the table by trainer Eddy Reynoso through a report from the Bleacher Report.

Canelo Must Face GGG Next, With No Catch Weights

Apparently such echoes on what everyone should expect from Alvarez and probably even Oscar De La Hoya who did not really commit to fight Triple G even if he is the recognized mandatory challenger by the WBC.

In doing so, any hopes of seeing the two in the ring in 2016 is placed in serious jeopardy.

Golovkin himself said that he is not inclined to give in to the demands of Alvarez on the catchweight stipulation and the WBC will in no way heed the demand as well.

With that said, Alvarez may be forced to vacate the belt though Golovkin could save him the trouble by giving in to his demand.

Why? Well for one, Alvarez and Cotto did make a valid point that Golovkin still hasn’t proven he could rack up the PPV numbers. That is despite the fact that he has been devastating opponents thrown at him thus far.

The scenario of seeing that may not be probable at that point though one never knows.

The fact is one of the boxers could give in to the other just to make the fight happen. But with the WBC on the side of Golovkin, it will be interesting how Alvarez, De La Hoya and Reynoso will deal with the issue at hand.
