If Lane Kiffin is hoping for some support from his recruits following his firing as head coach of USC, he won't get it from the most high-profile one. Cordell Broadus, son of famed rapper Snoop Dogg, laid into the coach following his release.
"I feel that he should have been fired a while ago," Broadus said per Sports Illustrated.
Kiffin was the head coach of USC for four years and compiled a 28-15 record, but he was fired on Sunday after a 3-2 start to the season. the Following a Trojan loss to the Arizona State Sun Devils Saturday and giving up a school-record 62 points in the process, Kiffin was shown the door.
Kiffin was informed of his release on the phone during his flight from Arizona back to California. Ole Miss coach and current USC defensive line coach Ed Orgeron was announced as the interim coach by USC athletic director Pat Haden, according to Campus Union.
Broadus, it would appear, feels the firing was just.
Broadus, 16, is heralded as one of the top 10 wide receivers in the Class of 2015 and he received an offer from USC back in April. The 6-foot-2 185-pound wideout received offers from LSU, Nebraska, California and UCLA as well.
"USC is going to raise the bar now because the new coaching staff next year and I'm anxious to see what they are going to look like," Broadus said via Sports Illustrated.
Snoop Dogg (Lion), whose real name is Calvin Broadus, is a Trojans fan and has even attended a USC practice before, and was involved in a scandal after reports emerged that he picked up USC running back Silas Reed in a limousine during his recruitment. The report was denied by Kiffin, according to Sports Illustrated, as the former head coach said, "I've never met Snoop Dogg in my life."
If and when Broadus plays for USC, it won't be under Kiffin, and judging by his comments Broadus won't seem to mind.
