Denver Broncos Rumors: Meet Brock Osweiler, The Man Who Should Take Over For Peyton Manning [VIDEO]

Brock Osweiler moved to 2-0 as the Broncos starter in relief of Peyton Manning, pulling off a come-from-behind win on Sunday Night Football vs. the previously unbeaten Patriots. Osweiler has people’s attention now, so it’s time everyone learned about the young gun who could be ending the Manning era.

1. He’s Married

Sorry ladies, but the 6’7 heartthrob has already had his heart stolen. Brock married Erin Osweiler in 2014, and while there isn’t much information about her to speak of, she is great enough to make an NFL quarterback nervous. Brock scrapped his plans for proposing to Erin because it made him nervous, and he just popped the question randomly when the two were in their home.

They got hitched in Scottsdale, Arizona, which is also where they met.

2. He’s Super Athletic

Osweiler, at 6’7, is exceptionally tall for a football player, even at quarterback. Obviously he doesn’t bring Manning’s wealth of experience to the position, but he brings infinitely more athleticism. Osweiler had committed as a sophomore to play college basketball at Gonzaga, but shifted his focus to football and eventually started 15 games at Arizona State. He was noticed by John Elway, who drafted him in the second round in 2012 and has slowly developed from the sideline ever since.

Manning May Request Trade In 2016

It’s become rare for a player drafted as high as Osweiler to sit for so long, but there’s one notable example of a hotshot young QB learning behind a legend. His name is Aaron Rodgers, and he plays for the Packers.

3. He Suits Gary Kubiak’s Offense Better Than Manning

Osweiler’s athletic ability makes him a better fit to run head coach Gary Kubiak’s offense than Manning. That shouldn’t be interpreted as him being a better option for Denver than Manning, but the Broncos’ running game has been noticeably dominant since Osweiler took over.

Manning’s track record in his own style is so entrenched that it would be foolish to force a new system on him. Osweiler has no such track record, so he has been running the offense exactly how Kubiak wants, and Denver’s responded with 170 and 179 rushing yards in two straight wins. Kubiak’s offenses are notoriously dominant on the ground, so that could keep Osweiler in the driver’s seat through the end of the season.
