Even before the Miami Heat take the court for their first game in defense of their NBA title, Dwyane Wade wants to set the record straight.
During the team's media day on Monday, one of the most asked questions was what will LeBron James decide to do at the end of this season when he is able to opt out of his deal and become a free agent. No one, Wade stressed, can be sure and the man most credited with convincing the league's MVP to join him in South Beach made it clear he doesn't want anyone expecting any encore feats from him.
"Don't try to put that pressure on me," Wade tweeted. "I'm going to stop that right now." Besides James, his Big 3 posse of Wade and Chris Bosh can also become free agents after the upcoming season.
According to ProBasketballTalk.com, with Bosh perhaps interested in carving out a bigger role for himself and Wade arguably slowing down due to attrition, some are speculating James might seek greener pastures and more titles in a different venue.
Whatever he decides, Wade seems to want all to know the decision will be all his. "I left that all to them," Wade told reporters earlier this summer of his decision to leave the job of recruiting players to Miami to management. "And Pat riley is the best at what he does.
