Floyd Mayweather Jr. knows how popularity can be a killer, especially with media on your back. He has gotten his share of that, particularly his last fight where he opted to fight a less-heralded fighter in Andre Berto.
While he has managed to dodge the bullet despite continuous criticism, the undefeated American boxer weighs in on the plight of Ronda Rousey, per Bleacher Report.
Despite Knockout, Ronda Rousey Still Looks Better Than Holly Holm
Rousey of course got the raw end of public criticism for her shock loss against Holly Holm at UFC 193. It was something many had not expected, seeing how she was going roughshod over all combatants thrown her way.
And being a favorite, her loss set the fans off as most criticized her cocky approach and some even singling out her overconfidence over the former boxer who shifted to MMA fighting.

“I think Ronda Rousey, before she lost the fight, she was 11-0 or 12-0. I don’t really know, I think it was the media. You know, sometimes the people around you can gas you up and be a bad influence,” says Mayweather as he was talking to DJ Whoo Kid of The Whoolywood Shuffle.
Mayweather and Rousey had their own verbal tussles prior to the UFC 193 loss. Mayweather however showed a bit of remorse by offering Rousey help (if she wanted) to get back up on her feet.
Right now, Rousey is out of the UFC scene as she fulfills her film obligations for a couple of films -- Mile 22 and Roadhouse. She is expected to make a return at UFC 200 in July, where a rematch with Holly Holm is most likely to ensue.
Aside from Mayweather, Holm also stood up for the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion with all the backlash that she has been receiving.
Of course it remains to be seen if Rousey would soften up with all that backing she has gotten so far, mostly from detractors and people who she crossed paths with.
