New York Jets Rumors: Ryan Fitzpatrick Inspires New Bearded Harvard Star Scott Hosch [EXCLUSIVE] [VIDEO]

Ryan Fitzpatrick was a hero of the Jets’ 23-20 win over the Giants on Sunday after throwing for 390 yards and two touchdowns. Fitzpatrick has plenty of performances like that this season, and he’s delighted more than just Jets fans. He is an inspiration to Scott Hosch, a promising quarterback from Fitzpatrick’s alma mater, Harvard.

Hosch received the 2015 Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year award on Monday, after leading Harvard to a 9-1 record and throwing 22 touchdown passes against six interceptions. At the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York City, Hosch said Fitzpatrick’s big year gives him confidence that he can be the next NFL player from Harvard.

“Having a guy like that who is succeeding at that level, and knowing that me, at my position that I’m in right now, I can aspire to the same things. It definitely boosts my confidence,” Hosch told Sports World News.

Hosch said an NFL career is “definitely something I’ll be working toward.” The award-winning Crimson quarterback has another thing in common with Fitzpatrick as well, aside from starring at the same position at the same school. Hosch sported a strong beard this season as well, and Fitzpatrick’s beard is something of a trademark.

“During the season I had a large beard growing, so people said I even resembled him,” Hosch said. But he claims it was not an homage to the Jets quarterback.

“I wasn’t trying to look like him though, it was just something I did for senior year.”

Hosch’s NFL dreams may not be so far-fetched, even for a guy coming out of the Ivy League. His stats this season are better than any year Fitzpatrick put together, and there are a number of ex-Ivy Leaguers in the NFL currently.

Cameron Brate (Buccaneers), Desmond Bryant (Browns), Nick Easton (Vikings), Kyle Juszczyk (Ravens) are waiting to welcome him.
