DeMarcus Cousins Pledges $1 Million Donation To Help Sacramento Families In Need [VIDEO]

DeMarcus Cousins has announced he plans to donate $1 million to local charities dedicated to aiding Sacramento families in financial need, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Days after inking a four-year, $62 million extension with the Kings, and having new minority owner Shaquille O'Neal declare he plans to take the temperamental 23-year-old center under his wing, Cousins is intent on giving something back to one of the communities that most supports him.

"I'm blessed to be in this situation," Cousins told Yahoo!, as team owner Vivek Ranadive and GM Pete D'Alessandro approvingly looked on in appreciation of his benevolent gesture. "This will go to the families and community of Sacramento," he said, adding that mayor and former NBA All-Star Kevin Johnson also plans to contribute to the effort through his foundation.

Cousins averaged 17.1 points and 9.9 rebounds in 75 games last season. His new deal is set to kick once his four-year rookie deal he signed after being selected as the No. 5 out of Kentucky in the 2010 NBA Draft runs out at the end of this season.
