Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Jerry Jones Sounds Close To Blowing Up Team [VIDEO]

It's the quote heard round AT&T Stadium that is an indication that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones finally may be ready for substance over style.

The Dallas boss was as philosophical as he's been about the direction of his team after its 28-7 loss to a Packers team that is not the juggernaut it was when the two teams met last season in the NFC Divisional Playoff Round, according to USA Today Sports.

Cowboys' NFC Title Hopes Still Very Real Possibility

Then again, the Cowboys also are a shell of themselves.

Jones was asked after Sunday's game whether he felt a healthy Tony Romo was all the separated Dallas from the Panthers and Cardinals of the world.

DeMarco Murray May Be Trying To Force His Way Back To Cowboys

"I don't have the heart to put us in with those clubs right now, because I don't want to -- we've got more work to do than just get Romo healthy," Jones said.

"My dream was to have a lot of these players that were out early -- to have them back right now, peaking," Jones added, according to dallascowboys.com. "To have Romo healthy, to have that line blocking like at times it did, to have our time of possession where we had it. It's inexplicable that we do not have turnovers -- or the percentage of turnovers that we have -- for how hard we practice."

The Cowboys let 1,800-yard rusher DeMarco Murray leave for Philadelphia in the offseason to spend money on other areas, including the controversial signing of Greg Hardy in an effort to get the team to the Super Bowl this season.

How far the 4-9 Cowboys are from being among the best teams in the NFL is a sobering thought to Jerry.

"We've got a lot of work. I want you know that there's some things that we have to do better for us to have a healthy Romo and have an effective Dez Bryant," Jones said. "There's some things we've got to really address and do better as we look over these last few games and the future. We need to do them.

"I'm just saying in general, all the way across. I thought for instance that 71 [rookie left guard La'el Collins] played lights out there tonight. He's very aggressive. But my point is, that offensive line -- I'm proud of the talent we've got right there, but obviously, you can have a talented, healthy offensive line ... and you can win four ballgames with three to go. I'm not [trying] to be humorous about it, but it's not the answer at all."

Jones thought he had a Super Bowl contender coming into the season. It's why he has expressed disappointment that the Cowboys couldn't win a game when Romo first went down with a broken clavicle.

Coach Jason Garrett has four years left on his contract, so if Jones decides to keep him, expect Garrett to be given a list of things to correct. It could be a long list if Jones decides to make a major philosophical change.
