Lamar Odom took a massive step toward recovery on Saturday. Three to be exact.
The former NBA player -- who previously needed a walker to move about -- took three steps for the first time without assistance, per TMZ Sports. Odom was also able to recognize a hospital staff member, this after being unable to recognize his own family.

He's officially walking into Khloe's life. In the literal sense, of course, not that emotional stuff everyone's pondering.
The news comes as a shocking development. Doctors reportedly said Odom would have no chance of leading a normal life just days ago.

"He's not doing great," a source close to Odom told Antoinette Bueno of ET. "His speech is still slurred and he can barely walk on his own yet. He forgets a lot of people's names -- sometimes even his own.
"He definitely has some memory loss."
He definitely has a slither of hope following Saturday's developments.
Just days before, Odom was able to to reach his arms above his head and pull up the hood of his sweatshirt, increasing the mobility in his hands and arms in conjunction with his legs.
Just in time for the holidays, Lamar will soon be moved to a rehab facility.
