It was an intersting year for the WWE in 2015 and there was plenty of action and drama throughout it.
Year-End Awards For The WWE In 2015
From dazzling debuts to memorable moments, 2015 had its fair share of surprises around every corner. The year was more kind to some Superstars and Divas, however, than others.
Here are the five Superstars and Divas who had the best years as the WWE prepares to usher in 2016.
Best Matches Of The Year For The WWE
5) Kevin Owens
The WWE's resident prize fighter started the year off in NXT, but he eventually jumped to the main roster and made quite the impact. Owens defeated John Cena in his WWE debut and went on to have a Feud of the Year caliber program with him. Owens eventually dropped the NXT Championship, but he ended up getting his first taste of WWE gold when he won the Intercontinental Championship.
4) Roman Reigns
The Leader of the Roman Empire's 2015 started out shaky, but he ended up on top of the WWE and was able to win over the audience. After getting booed mercilessly when he won the Rumble Match in January, Reigns main evented his first WrestleMania and held his own. Though the WWE World Heavyweight Championship eluded him throughout the year, he improved in the ring and won the gold in December. Reigns deserves most improved Superstar for 2015.
3) Nikki Bella
Though the Diva spent the latter portion of the year on the shelf with a neck injury, she thrived beforehand. Bella set a record by holding the Divas Championship for 301 days and was a big part of the Divas Revolution. Outside of the ring, Bella's relationship with John Cena is also flourishing, and could lead to marriage down the line.
2) John Cena
The "Cenation" leader had one hell of a year in 2015. First, he was in a Match of the Year candidate with Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins at Royal Rumble, then he won the United States Championship and put on some of the best matches of the year through his U.S. Open Challenge. Like him or hate him, there's no denying that Cena helped escalate other talent in the WWE and competed in several Match of the Year candidates.
1) Seth Rollins
"The Architect's" heel turn reached an all-time high when he cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and captured the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for the first time in his career at WrestleMania. Rollins went on to remain the top heel and though some of the storylines he was given were questionable (see: Kane), his in-ring work couldn't be topped in 2015. It's unfortunate Rollins was sidelined by an injury, but when he recovers, he'll surely take back his spot in 2016.
