TMZ is reporting Lamar Odom backed out of a planned meeting with NBA execs from several teams that had gathered in New York to meet with him.
According to TMZ, Odom was scheduled to fly New York on Tuesday to meet with team officials and was prepared to provide them with proof that he's now clean and sober. But at the last minute, the website reports Odom failed to appear for his flight and the meeting has not been rescheduled.
After a summer of purported "hardcore" drug use, TMZ adds Odom has recently tested negative for drugs based on blood and urine analysis. The website adds that is consistent with what other sources have told reporters about a meeting Odom had with the Kardashians earlier this week where he appeared lucid and displayed no signs of being under the influence.
Sources say several teams have recently expressed interest in the 33-year-old free agent forward, provided he can prove he is indeed clean. Sources add part of Odom's motivation for wanting to meet in NYC was so he could also visit with his young children and other family members.
Odom has also been dogged this summer by allegations of infidelity in his marriage to reality TV star Khloe Kardashian. Over the last several weeks he has been romantically linked to at least five different women, three of whom have publicly confirmed they had affairs with him. Odom was also recently arrested in California on a DUI charge that could mean jail time.
