Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Greg Hardy Could Be Blackballed From The NFL In 2016 [VIDEO]

The Cowboys have a decision to make on controversial defensive end Greg Hardy this offseason. Hardy recorded 35 tackles and six sacks in 12 games in 2015, but the production alone may not be enough to convince the Cowboys – or any other team – that he’s worth the “headache” that comes attached to him.

Hardy is divisive because aside from Ray Rice, who isn’t in the league, Hardy is the most visible face of domestic violence in the NFL. Unlike Rice, Hardy has not come off as repentant for the incident in which he was briefly convicted for shoving a woman against a wall and slamming her onto a futon covered in guns.

Greg Hardy Should Consider Brandon Marshall A Role Model

Hardy has also failed to endear himself to teammates. He had a public meltdown on the sidelines in which he shoved multiple teammates and coaches, and reportedly was late to meetings on a regular basis.

“A few teammates who had supported Hardy early began to sour on him late in the season, in part because his perpetual tardiness for team meetings never resulted in a reduction of playing time,” Brandon George wrote in The Dallas Morning News. George also reported that Hardy required additional supervision from the Cowboys as the year wore on, because he was displaying alarming conduct.

Greg Hardy Thinks People Don't Want Him To Do Good Deeds

Despite all that, Hardy saw no decrease in playing time, which didn’t sit well with the other players. None of the preferential treatment helped the Cowboys win either; Dallas was 2-10 in the 12 games in which Hardy suited up following his four-game suspension to begin the year.

It’s likely that Dallas lets him walk this offseason, and his talent alone will probably afford him another chance elsewhere. But if more reports come out about his behavior, especially coming off one of the ugliest black eyes the league has ever had with his domestic violence case, the NFL may decide the league is better off without him.
