This is the kind of thing that would never have happened to his predecessor Tom Coughlin, who has been the Giants’ coach for the last 12 years. On its face wearing a huge suit isn’t a big deal, but it does show that there will be a learning curve for this new coach. McAdoo has no previous head coaching experience at any level, and only two years of experience as an offensive coordinator.
There is a tired cliché about football coaches having to be “leaders of men,” but there’s truth to it. Professional athletes respond to coaches with proven success, and coaches without that record have to earn it quickly. How is McAdoo expected to lead pro athletes if he can’t even pick out a proper suit for his first presser?
