Damian Lillard Rap Video: Dame D.O.L.L.A. Is The Best Rapper The NBA Has Ever Produced [VIDEO]

Damian Lillard is one of the NBA’s top point guards and brightest young stars, but what elevates him to superstardom may have nothing to do with his play on the court. Lillard doubles as an up-and-coming rapper named Dame D.O.L.L.A. and he has real skills.

His latest track “Bigger Than Us” featuring Paul Rey is not your standard athlete fare. While other NBA stars have messed around and recorded some tracks – think Allen Iverson (Jewelz), Shaquille O’Neal, and Iman Shumpert – none of those players have ever recorded something as meaningful as Lillard’s song.

Damian Lillard Demolishes A Twitter Troll

In the track, Lillard makes an attempt to spark conversation about social injustices facing African Americans, but does it without the fury of artists in the past like Dead Prez or Public Enemy. It was released on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and was much more in line with King’s message of peace and equality.

“It touches on a lot of things that are going on around us, stuff that affects everybody,” Lillard said. “Whether that’s positive or negative, however you want to look at it. It just kind of raises awareness, let’s us know that it’s right there in our faces happening. It’s only facts. It’s not disrespectful. It’s not overly aggressive. It’s just facts.”

Not all of Lillard’s songs are so heavy. Check him out flowing over this smooth beat.

How about when he nearly made Shade 45 radio host Sway fall out of his chair with a freestyle that was impressively free of curse words?

And remember, rapping’s not even his day job. Lillard is having his best season as a pro, averaging career-highs in points (24) and assists (7.0).
