Lynch was expected to be cut in the offseason, per The Seattle Times. Seattle was "looking to trade or, maybe more likely, release him" to receive $6.5 million in cap relief, according to Bob Condotta.
Now, that might not even have to be an option.

As disheartening as Friday’s development is for NFL fans, it’s most advisable for one of the NFL’s best comedic minds.
In case you haven’t noticed, Lynch has impeccable comedic timing. There’s no need to watch a possible onset of CTE damage it.
This is where Lynch’s future truly belongs.
Besides, it’s not like he’s going to be on an NFL Network set providing you analysis. That’s clearly not his realm.
As outlandish as this premise may seem, it’s not completely farfetched. O.J. Simpson was able to get away with it.
