Kurt Angle Bellator MMA Fight Rumors: Wrestler Waited Too Long To Follow In Footsteps Of Brock Lesnar [POLL, VIDEO]

All due respect to our Olympic hero, but Kurt Angle would be crazy to pursue an MMA fight.

The 1996 Olympic Gold medalist and current TNA wrestler has seemingly done it all, but the latest idea he has to add to the list of his accomplishments could do more harm than good.

Angle, who is currently working for Bellator MMA as a commentator, admitted that there is a 99 percent chance he won't fight, but is still open to it. He even rattled off potential opponents in the event he does enter the cage.

"When it comes down to it look, I am 47 years old," Angle told 'The Roman Show.' "Kenny [Shamrock] and [Royce] Gracie are in their early 50's, Dan Severn is in his early mid-50s. Of course, I am not going to wrestle or fight someone in his prime.

CM Punk Should Focus On Debut, Not How Many Fights He'll Have

"It's not going to happen. It will be one of the older guys. But it will be a hell of fight whether it's Kimbo Slice, Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn or whoever it is, or even Royce Gracie. But if I do decide it will be with a Hall of Famer, not someone in their prime."

While facing someone in his age group is smart, those guys also bring forth a plethora of experience in fighting. Angle has some background, but has never had an official fight, while those legends have built careers off of having battles inside the cage.

Angle is a gifted athlete, as shown in his amateur and pro wrestling past, but to fight these guys could be a mistake.

The former TNA and WWE Heavyweight Champion may have waited too long to follow in the footsteps of those like Brock Lesnar. "The Beast" left the WWE for eight years and became UFC heavyweight champion before returning to Vince McMahon's company. His last fight was in July 2011, when he was 34.

Angle has been known to overcome the odds in the past, but to start his career at age 47, which makes him a decade older than fellow wrestler-turned-cage-fighter CM Punk, may not be the best thing for the injury-prone grappler.

Then again, the former Olympian has seemingly done it all, so he could prove to be up to the challenge if he ever decides to enter the cage. It is, however, a scary proposition.

Should Kurt Angle pursue a Bellator MMA fight?
