Boston heads home with a 3-2 advantage in the ALCS, but polishing off Detroit will not be easy for Boston to polish off. Max Scherzer, a frontrunner for the American League Cy Young award,  will be on the mound for the Tigers as they try to keep their season alive.

"We all know what we are up against," Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia said. "I expect it's going to be another one of those tough games."

In Game 2, Scherzer kept the Boston bats at bay until they were able to rally against the Tigers bullpen. Closer Joaquin Benoit served up a game-tying grand slam to David Ortiz in the ninth inning, and the Sox eventually won the game in extra innings, changing the series' momentum. Still, Boston knows they didn't hit Scherzer.

"I don't see him making too many adjustments," Saltalamacchia said. "There's not many adjustments he needs to make."

Boston doesn't have a slouch on the mound either, however. First baseman Mike Napoli said that even though the Red Sox lineup has struggled at times, he believes they have enough pitching to match the Tigers.

"They were pitching pretty well the first could of games. They shut us down," Napoli said. "It's been a great series all-around. But it's not over yet. We've got to take care of business. We've got Buchholz going, and we've got all the confidence in the world in him."
