Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably the finest soccer player on the planet, just dropped the biggest hint yet he may be headed to play in the United States. Ronaldo is reportedly looking into purchasing a $23 million apartment in New York City in Donald Trump’s Trump Tower, per TMZ.
Ronaldo already lives in Trump Tower, but he’s going to up his stake if he goes through with this buy. TMZ is reporting there’s stiff competition for the apartment, that several high-profile people are in the running, and that the board, which includes Republican presidential candidate Trump himself, must approve of the buyer.

This news has to excite American soccer fans, especially those who cheer for the New York Red Bulls or New York City FC, because Ronaldo has expressed interest in eventually playing in MLS. However, Ronaldo is not short on cash, and there will be a number of other MLS teams vying for his services.
The Los Angeles Galaxy have already been home to David Beckham before, and the Galaxy will be joined in 2017 by a second L.A. franchise with an ownership group that includes Magic Johnson.
