Bill Goldberg WWE Return Rumors: Possible Project With WWE Could Be Former Superstar's Way Back Into The Fold [POLL, VIDEO]

Goldberg had his last match in a WWE ring nearly 12 years ago, but perhaps his recent tweet could be a sign of a comeback.

The former WCW and WWE Heavyweight Champion doesn't look back on his time in Vince McMahon's promotion fondly. Still, the Superstar isn't opposed to doing business with them again.

Goldberg's Legacy Unworthy Of Hall Of Fame Induction

Goldberg was asked on Twitter if rumors of him being in talks to appear in the WWE 2K17 video game were true and rather than shoot it down completely, he teased that he might very well take part in that.

While it's not exactly a return to the ring, the fact that Goldberg is even willing to do business with the WWE in any capacity could be the bridge he needs to an eventual comeback. Many of his fans have pined for at least one more match from Goldberg in the WWE, especially since his final bout was the much-maligned epic failure of a clash with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX in 2004.

The last time Goldberg talked about possibly returning to the WWE, he met with Triple H on several occasions with the goal being to utilize him at WrestleMania XXX in 2014. Though they negotiated for a while, the former owner of the 173-0 streak in WCW was bothered by the tactics the WWE used to try and persuade him to return to the company.

Though the politics in wrestling agitated Goldberg, if working with the WWE on a possible video game isn't enough to bring him back, maybe a chance at redemption against Lesnar will.

"The fact is, behind the scenes, there's stuff that goes on that's bush-league," Goldberg told RollingStone.com last June. "It's laughable. So to see a guy like Brock do what he's doing, are you kidding me? I admire him whole-heartedly, and I like to think that I taught him a thing or two. I'd love to wrestle Brock again."

Maybe the video game will serve as a way for Goldberg to have that chance again.
