Darren Sharper Rape Case Update: Judge Throws Out 9-Year Plea Deal, Calling It 'Inappropriate' [VIDEO]

If it seemed as if nine years in prison for the drugging and rape of multiple women in four states was far too lenient, a federal judge agrees.

U.S. District Judge Jane Milazzo rejected former NFL player Darren Sharper's plea agreement of a nine-year sentence strayed too far away from federal sentencing guidelines that would impose a 15- to 20-year prison term, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

"Milazzo said a nine-year prison sentence, when considering the seriousness of the offenses for which Sharper admitted, was 'inappropriate,'" the Times-Picayune reported. "This court cannot accept this plea agreement.

Sharper, a 14 year veteran with the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints, entered a play in late May of 2015 to consolidate a multitude of allegations that he drugged and/or sexually assaulted nine women in Louisiana, Arizona, California and Nevada during a six-month span starting in August of 2013.

Milazzo's decision allows the 40-year-old Sharper to withdraw his guilty plea and get his day in court.

"A sentencing hearing for Sharper is set for March 3 in Milazzo's courtroom," the Times-Picayune added. "The judge said he can withdraw the guilty plea at that time, or anytime before March 3. If he doesn't withdraw the guilty plea, Milazzo warned Sharper she might be inclined impose a harsher penalty. Her sentence, in that scenario, could include a more prison time than the 20-year maximum outlined in federal sentencing guidelines."

Her inclination to more than double the prison time that his plea agreement indicated stems from a pre-sentencing report that alleges the defensive back, who won a Super Bowl with the Saints in 2009, may have committed crimes against seven other women between January 2010 and May 2014.

That would bring his victim list to 16.

Charges have not been filed against Sharper pertaining to the other alleged victims, but Milazzo is allowed to consider the information when reordering his prison sentence.
