Redskins Name Change: Daniel Snyder Changing Moniker To Bravehearts? [VIDEO]

Could Dan Snyder be experiencing a change of heart?

After vowing that he would never change the Washington Redskins nickname, TMZ is reporting Snyder's neighbor, a Potomac, Maryland patent investor, has registered the name the Washington Bravehearts.

According to the website, Aris Mardirossian trademarked the name on Oct. 17, telling officials he planned to use the name for "entertainment in the nature of football games."

That same day, Mardirossian also created a company called Washington Brave Hearts, LLC. The relationship between Synder and Mardirossian predates all that day's activity. According to TMZ, neighbors say rthe two men forged a united front several years ago when they cut down trees on lots that county officials were opposed to take care of. Both men also attended the University of Maryland, albeit at different times.

The NFL franchise has been under increasing scrutiny and criticism over its refusal to so much as consider changing a nickname many consider antiquated and offensive.

Still, the man who employs Robert Griffin III has previously vowed the name was here to stay.

"We will never change the name of the team," Synder recently told reporters. "As a lifelong Redskins fan, and I think that the Redskins understand the great tradition and what it's all about and what it means, so we feel pretty fortunate to be just working on next season."
