Bryce Harper, Stephen Strasburg Both Undergo Surgery For Washington Nationals [VIDEO]

Washington Nationals 21-year-old All-Star outfielder/catcher Bryce Harper has undergone left knee surgery that could take him at least two months to recover from.

According to HardBallTalk.com, Harper underwent a procedure to "debride and repair the bursa sac in his left knee" on Wednesday. He initially suffered the injury on May 13 when he crashed into the right field wall trying to make a play on the road against the Dodgers.

HardBallTalk also reported that Harper's battery mate, 25-year-old All-Star pitcher Stephen Strasburg, has also undergone a minor form of surgery that likewise is expected to keep him out of action for up to two months.

According to the website, Strasburg had bone chips removed from his right elbow, but, assuming no unforeseen setbacks, should be ready to pitch by the start of spring training. Strasburg previously underwent Tommy John surgery on the same arm during his 2010 rookie season.

Harper hit .274 with 20 home runs and 58 RBI in 118 games for the Nats last season, while Strasburg posted a 3.00 ERA and a 191/56 strikeouts to walks ratio in 183 innings.

HardBallTalk also reported 33-year-old veteran infielder Adam LaRoche had loose bodies removed from his left elbow in a procedure expected to keep him sidelined for up to two months. LaRouche hit .237 with 20 homers for the Nationals last season.
