LeBron James News: Space Jam Sequel Has Stalled Since Partnership With Warner Bros. [VIDEO]

The "Space Jam" sequel sounded good when a LeBron James project signed a deal with Warner Bros. last summer.

There hasn't been any sound about Space Jam since, according to Cleveland.com.

Kobe Bryant Says LeBron James Lacks Too Nice To Lead Cavs On Championship Run By Himself

When James' media company, SpringHill Entertainment, signed a multiyear contract with Warner Bros. in July of 2015, reports surfaced either a remake or a sequel to the original Space Jam in 1996 starting Michael Jordan and the cast of Looney Tunes was in the works.

"Warner Bros. filed for new Space Jam trademarks, a potential signal for new merchandise for, say, a new movie, but nothing is imminent," Cleveland.com reported.

Rumors Of LeBron James Leaving Cleveland Continue To Surface

"(LeBron's longtime friend and business partern Maverick) Carter says the movie hasn't been discussed in detail with Warner, and James couldn't even entertain that discussion until he's finished with the Cavs this season at the earliest. Beginning production on 'Space Jam 2' in James' limited time this summer would seem virtually impossible.

Carter told Cleveland.com that the contract between SpringHill Entertainment and Warner Bros. was created to give James options on his post-basketball career.

"It's really important because LeBron's main thing is playing basketball, and this was all possible because of basketball and what he does as a basketball player," Carter said, during an interview with Cleveland.com at SpringHill's Burbank office. "Also, he's on the backside of his career. This company has to live on after he's done playing basketball."

SpringHill president Jamal Henderson said his company remains extremely interested in pursuing a Space Jam remake but admits no progress being made.

"It'd be crazy not to say that it's something on the radar, it's super on the radar, but it's not something we have any news on," said Henderson, who joined SpringHill in July. "There's no sort of start on it."
