Shaq Endorses Governor Chris Christie Ad [VIDEO], Shaquille O'Neal: 'He's A Good Man, Excuse Me...A Great Man'

Retired NBA star Shaquille O'Neal has endorsed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for re-election and praises the governor in a 30-second advertisement for the upcoming election.

"I don't endorse many politicians. But Chris Christie is different. He's working with me to bring jobs back to our cities, and on a new program to help kids in tough neighborhoods get ahead," Shaq says in the ad. "Governor Christie's provided more funding for schools, given parent more choices in what schools their kids can go to, and merit pay for good teachers."

O'Neal then goes on to say that he believes Christie is a great man.

"He's a good man. Excuse me -- he's a great man. Please join me in supporting Chris Christie - the governor."

CBS Sports reports that Christie won't need O'Neal's endorsement to win as the latest Quinnipiac poll from earlier this month revealed that Christie owns a lead over Democratic State Sen. Barbara Buono of 30 points. Still, Christie would probably still enjoy the endorsement and kind words from the former NBA big man.

CNN reported that Shaq isn't necessarily a heavy Republican as he said during the 2012 Election that he believed Dem. Barack Obama was doing a "fabulous job." while predicting that he would win the election.

O'Neal, a native of Newark, played in the NBA for almost two decades from the 1991-92 season through the 2010-11 season and netted a career average of 27.7 points per game while achieving four NBA Championships to go along with one Most Valuable Player Award and six All-Star game appearances.

Christie's latest endorsement comes from a man with a very accomplished basketball background and thought the polls look good thus far, time will tell if it's enough to net him another term in office.
