Peyton Manning Coaching Rumors: Wade Phillips Believes NFL Should Be 'Worried' If Retired QB Dons Headset [POLL, VIDEO]

Peyton Manning retired after winning the Super Bowl, but should he become a coach, there may be more Lombardi Trophies in his future.

The Sheriff called it a career after the Broncos toppled the Panthers, 24-10, on Feb. 7 in Super Bowl 50. Manning retired with two championship rings, countless records, five MVP awards and 14 Pro Bowl appearances.

Denver defensive coordinator Wade Phillips believes that the league should worry what would happen if the quarterback ever decided to don a headset.

"I think Peyton Manning can do whatever he wanted to do and do it well," Phillips told TMZ. "Just like he did football. I mean, he's good at anything. I'd be worried if he wanted to coach if I was a coach, I know that."

Manning proved over his 18 seasons in the NFL that he has one of the greatest football minds to ever grace the sport. He revealed on Mar. 7, however, that his mind will no longer be put to use on the gridiron.

That doesn't mean he can't still call the shots from behind the clipboard.

Manning, however, didn't necessarily endorse himself as a head coach prior to retiring -- and also added he's not much of an announcer.

"I'm not sure I'd be either," he told 'The Dan Patrick Show' in September prior to the beginning of last season. "I'm not sure I'd be good at either. I enjoy teaching football. That's what I kinda feel like I do."

Manning did seem willing, however, to be the quarterbacks coach at his alma mater Tennessee.

"Quarterbacks coach, I would do at Tennessee. Head coach? Absolutely not," Manning said. "People in Tennessee like me right now, Dan -- I don't know why. But you become the head coach and cut that in half right away. 'Why are you throwing it on 4th and 1? Why did you punt there; you should go for it.' Cut it in half -- it's like being in politics.

"Quarterbacks coach, you probably could stay under the radar. You get your quarterbacks throwing a lot of completions, you probably could stay in good favor. Maybe if they call, that'd be something."

Whatever he ends up doing, Phillips knows he'll be great at it thanks to his great football intellect.

Do you think Peyton Manning would make a good head coach?
