The WWE's power couple may not return to the squared circle for a long time.
John Cena has been out since January with a shoulder injury, while his girlfriend Nikki Bella underwent neck surgery that same month after being sidelined with the injury since October. Both of them are on the mend, but may not complete their recovery anytime soon.
Though it appeared Cena was trying to make a comeback for WrestleMania 32, it's unlikely he'll be able to make his usual Herculean recovery in time for the April 3 show at AT&T Stadium in Texas. Not only that, but he may not return for a long time after the biggest show of the year.
The 15-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion is expected to miss Extreme Rules and Payback in May as well as Money in the Bank in June, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Wrestlingheadlines.com). The latest estimated time for a return for the "Cenation" leader is July.
Cena is known for coming back from injury quicker than expected, most notably when he tore a pectoral muscle in late 2007 that was supposed to sideline him through WrestleMania XXIV, but he returned at the 2008 Royal Rumble.
The face of the franchise has even teased making a Superman comeback for this year's WrestleMania, but it seems that's out of the question.
Despite all of his social media trolling, Cena did admit that he will be watching WrestleMania this year for the first time since becoming an active competitor on the main roster.
His girlfriend will be right there with him as the timetable for Bella remains murky, though it is expected that the closest possible time she can return is sometime during the summer. Bella made great strides in the ring and set a record last year with a 301-day reign as Divas Champion, but she'll miss WrestleMania and much more this year.
The news may not be all bad for the happy couple as there are rumors the two are already engaged and just waiting for the "Total Divas" season to end so they can reveal it.
While Cena and Bella may not return to the wrestling ring anytime soon, the Diva may already have the other ring she's been coveting for so long.
