"Scandal" star Kerry Washington and 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha are expecting their first child, according to the New York Daily News.
A source close to the actress told The News the 36-year-old Washington is "about four months along." The couple began dating in 2012 and married last June in a "small, convert ceremony" in Idaho.
In a recent interview with Glamour magazine, Washington detailed why she remains so protective of her personal life.
"I learned through experience that it doesn't work for me," she told Glamour. "I've had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it. But I couldn't just turn around and say, 'I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.' So I just thought, 'Okay, no more.'"
"I'm walking around in the world with my ring. And when people say congratulations, I say thank you," she said about being a newlywed. But I'm going to continue to not talk about it and just let it unfold."
The News reports no word has been given as to if Washington's pregnancy will be worked into the season three plot of the ABC hit drama in which she plays Olivia Pope, a famous fixer and the president of the United States' mistress.
