WWE 'Payback 2016' Rumors & Predictions: Door Open For Finn Balor To Debut After NXT Championship Loss [PHOTO, VIDEO]

The door is officially open for Finn Balor to make his WWE main roster debut.

Samoa Joe shockingly defeated Balor for the NXT Championship at an untelevised event in Lowell, Mass., on Thursday night, ending the 292-day reign for the former champion. Balor won the gold at Beast in the East from Kevin Owens on July 4 in Japan.

The surprising loss has led to a lot of speculation that Balor will be up on the main roster soon. The WWE has had a huge influx of talent from NXT make the jump recently, including the likes of Sami Zayn, Emma, The Vaudevillians and Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady. Balor could be next man up.

The WWE revealed the shocking news of the title change in an Instagram post, which displayed Joe proudly hoisting the title over his head.

It's possible that the WWE will now usher in a new role for Balor by bringing him up to the main roster. One logical place for that to happen is Payback, which emanates from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., on May 1.

There has been a lot of speculation that Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson will join AJ Styles to form the Bullet Club.

However, there could be another storyline in the works that would see the two newcomers team up with the former NXT Champion to form the Balor Club. It's unlikely that Roman Reigns will drop the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to AJ Styles this quickly into his reign, so maybe a swerve is in the works.

The WWE has created some great buzz for its product following a lackluster WrestleMania by implementing new talents and opening many new possibilities for its booking. Balor may end up continuing his feud with Joe because he's due a rematch, but the crowd will go wild if he shows up to Payback, especially if he disrupts the main event.
