The 142nd annual Kentucky Derby emanates live Saturday afternoon and in the wake of American Pharoah's run to the Triple Crown last year, there is a lot of buzz for the event.
The 2016 "Race for the Roses" has plenty of intrigue, especially when it comes to high-profile favorite Nyquist, a horse that was named after Detroit Red Wings player Gustav Nyquist. Nyquist's owner Paul Reddam is a die-hard Red Wings fan and has a tendency to name his horses after players from the ice hockey club.
Nyquist has won all seven of his races thus far, but will meet a crop of tough opponents in the race.
