Denver Nuggets Mascot Unconscious During Pregame Festivities Friday Night, Leaving Fans Scared and Concerned

The Denver Nuggets might want to rethink their pregame entertainment after what could have been a serious situation Friday night.

Shortly before the Nuggets' home game against the Portland Trail Blazers, the team planned to lower Denver's mascot, Rocky, by harness to the floor.

According to thedenverchannel.com, when it came time for Rocky to be lowered, fans became horrified as Rocky was hanging limp and then collapsed once he reached the court.

The Nuggets had a spotlight on the mascot that they immediately turned off when Rocky collapsed on the floor when he touched down. The incident left Nuggets fans confused and somewhat scared for the safety of the person inside the costume.

Doctors administered to Rocky and took him off the court when he was conscious. The Nuggets reported that the person playing Rocky had the wind knocked out of him. He did not return to the game, but was checked by doctors and taken off the court.

Probasketballtalk.com chastised the Nuggets for going to what it considered unusual pregame stunt.

"It appears to have been nothing lingering that will impact the person in the mascot outfit moving forward, but let's try to remember that a person in a stuffed animal outfit only enhances the pregame festivities to a certain point," the article read. "It's probably not worth a danger level of anything greater than zero for any "stunts" that may come to mind."

To add insult in injuries, the Nuggets lost their game to the Portland Trail Blazers 113-98 at the Pepsi center.

Just don't expect Rocky to be lowered with any tasks in the not-too-distant future based on the outcome of the pregame introductions on Friday.
