Mike Trout Trade Rumors: Cubs Deal Unlikely As Angels Have No Designs On Trading Superstar [VIDEO]

The Angels currently occupy the basement of the AL West, but they aren't ready to trade away their five-tool superstar.

With Los Angeles dealing with an injury-riddled rotation and a 13-21 last-place record in the AL West entering Friday, there have been plenty of rumors surrounding Mike Trout's future.

The Angels could get an embarrassment of riches if they were willing to part with the 2014 AL MVP, but it's unlikely they'll do so.

The latest rumors surround the Cubs, who are off to an MLB-best 25-8 start and are a legitimate World Series contender. Terez Owens is reporting that Chicago is currently trying to pry Trout away from Los Angeles.

If a trade of that magnitude ever did go down, the Cubs would be an automatic favorite to win the Fall Classic for the first time since 1908.

The speculation, however, is likely just that as it seems the Angels are in no rush to trade away one of the most dynamic superstars in the game.

"No chance," Angels general manager Billy Eppler said last week regarding a trade via Fox Sports. "You do not move superstar players."

As for Trout, he has no intentions of playing anywhere but the Angels.

"I've seen it," Trout told MLB.com of the trade chatter. "I just laugh about it. I love where I'm at. I love Anaheim, the stadium, the organization, and obviously the teammates. Teams go through injuries. That's the way it is."

The Angels are dealing with several injuries to the rotation this season and are one of three teams interested in Tim Lincecum, who is a free agent and put on a showcase in Arizona last week.

Garret Richards was lost for the season with a torn elbow ligament, while Andrew Heaney (flexor strain) and C.J. Wilson (shoulder) are also on the disabled list.

Trout will make $15.25 million this year, $19.25 million next season and $33.25 million each of the following three years. Trout, 24, has been worth every penny, racking up the MVP Award two seasons ago, the Rookie of the Year Award in 2012 and four All-Star selections and Silver Slugger Awards.

Trout owns a .302/.390/.532 slashline with seven homers and 23 RBIs this season.
