Tim Tebow Rumors: Marco Rubio Pushes For Statue Of Former QB To Replace Confederate General In Florida [VIDEO]

There might soon be a way for Tebowmania to live on forever -- in the form of a statue.

The state of Florida is looking to replace a statue of Confederate General Edmund Kirby Smith, which represents the state in the U.S. Capitol's National Statuary Hall. A legislation to have the current sculpture removed was passed.

As for a replacement, the voting is up to the public to decide who will take the spot next to air conditioning pioneer John Gorrie as the state's two representatives at the U.S. Capitol, according to PalmBeachPost.com.

The site reports that the Florida Department of State has put up an online survey and will collect votes until June 10.

Former U.S. Presidential hopeful Marco Rubio has one idea of who can take Smith's place: Tim Tebow.

Rubio took to Twitter and floated the idea of enshrining the former Heisman Trophy winner, who is a hero in Florida for his days with the Gators:

Though he found some success if Florida, Tebow's triumphs in the NFL were very limited. He captivated America during his time with the Broncos, including a run in the playoffs during the 2011-12 season where he led the team to a shocking overtime victory in the Wild Card round over the Steelers.

Tebow then landed with the Jets before moving on to the Patriots and Eagles, both of whom cut him prior to the season starting. Tebow hasn't thrown a pass in the NFL since 2012 and was cut by Philadelphia last September in his last run with the team.

The former quarterback also hasn't found much success in his personal life, despite rumored flings with Olivia Culpo and Nina Dobrev, both of which reportedly went nowhere. That doesn't mean he isn't trying.

"I'm single, yes," Tebow said in February on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show.' "Obviously [I'm looking for] someone that I'm extremely attracted to, but I think there has to be more there. There has to be depth. Obviously, you have to have similar beliefs, you have to have chemistry [and] character. But there has to be something more than glitz and glamour."

Though his football and love lives are currently stagnant, Tebow is at least getting endorsed by politicians to receive a statue in his likeness.
