Richie Incognito Suspension: Dolphins Guard Suspended Indefinitely For Bullying Jonathan Martin, Called 'Ring Leader' Of Misconduct [VIDEO]

The Miami Dolphins suspended guard Richie Incognito indefinitely for being at the forefront of harsh treatment towards Jonathan Martin, who left the team last week due to the his teammates "misconduct" towards him.

CBS Sports reports that the Dolphins weeded Incognito out as "the ringleader" of the treatment that led to Martin departing from the team.

The Dolphins released an official statement regarding the removal of Incognito from the team indefinitely.

"The Miami Dolphins have suspended Richie Incognito for conduct detrimental to the team," Miami said in a statement via CBS Sports. "We believe in maintaining a culture of respect for one another and as a result we believe this decision is in the best interest of the organization at this time. As we noted earlier, we reached out to the NFL to conduct an objective and thorough review. We will continue to work with the league on this matter."

CBS Sports reports that the Miami Dolphins were informed by Martin's representation of allegations for player misconduct and had announced on Sunday that they were investigating what happened. The site also reports that Miami had also released a statement earlier in the day that any "accusations of bullying were based on speculation."

Incognito then went on a Twitter rant in which he called out various media outlets and said that they were "slandering" him. Following his suspension the rant has since been removed.

It remains to be seen what the outcome of the investigation will ultimately conclude in, but Incognito is the first to fall for his connection to it and it is unknown if any other players were involved and will be punished as well.

Miami (4-4) is coming off of a 22-20 overtime victory over the Cincinnati Bengals last Thursday and will look ahead to a matchup against the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Monday at Raymond James Stadium.

Incognito appeared in eight games this season but it remains to be seen when he'll return to the team.
